Frequently Asked Questions

What is the booking procedure?

Please contact us via the website ‘Request Booking Form’ facility, found at the bottom of each particular workshop description, or email directly to info@woldsworkshop.com with your request or any further questions. You will then receive an introductory email, together with a booking form to complete and return. Thereafter you will be sent an invoice for the full amount, to be settled within 20 days. This will secure your place on the workshop.

Do I need to pay in full before the workshop begins?

Yes please!

Do you provide gift vouchers?

Yes, we do! Gift Vouchers can be purchased for any amount. Please use them within 1 year of the date of purchase. You can request one via email at info@woldsworkshop.com

What is your cancellation policy?

If you cancel your booking with more than 8 weeks’ notice we will provide a refund, less a non-refundable administration fee of £20.

If you cancel your booking with less than 8 weeks’ notice we cannot provide a refund, unless we manage to fill the space, or if you find a replacement. In that instance we will provide a refund, less a non-refundable administration fee of £20.

Please also note that we have a maximum quota of 8 students for each workshop, and we must have at least 6 students to make it financially viable. Therefore, if we cannot fill the spaces, you will be notified at least 1 month beforehand, and we will offer either alternative workshop dates, or a full refund.

Can we book for a private group/party?

Yes, you can! We can provide bespoke arrangements for private groups. Please contact us, and we will develop a workshop plan with you.

Are all materials included in the workshop fee?

Yes, they are!

Are all tools provided?

Yes, they are!

What are the workshop times?

Generally, 9am-5pm, though some may be shorter than this. Times will be clearly advertised and specified upon booking.

There is a lot to do and learn during the workshops, and everyone will work at different speeds. So please be mindful that some workshops may over-run slightly at the end of the day!

What health and safety considerations are there/do we need to be aware of?

We are very conscious of health & safety requirements for our course participants. Each workshop will begin with a run through of not only the course content but also the health and safety considerations and the PPE you will use, such as masks and aprons; all of which we will provide. For the stained glass/glass painting workshops you will be using strips of lead and lead-based paint pigments, and regular handwashing is essential, for instance. It is also why we state that it is not advisable for anyone who is pregnant. All our workshops are wholly practical, with much of the day standing, although seating is available if required.

Please do not attend the workshop if you are displaying any signs of Covid, flu, cold, RSV, or other viruses etc. In this event we will give you a place on an alternative workshop once you are recovered, or you may wish to find someone else to fill your space.

Do the venues have disabled access?

The Harriet Centre at York Cemetery is all on one floor, is fully accessible for wheelchairs, & has a disabled toilet facility. Unfortunately, there is no disabled access to our venue at St. Mary’s Beverley. We are situated in the choir vestry, which necessitates climbing up a number of old stone stairs.

How physically demanding are the workshops?

The 1-Day Glass-Painting, Copper Foil, Clay-Modelling, and Letter-Cutting in Stone Workshops, can all be done whilst seated, and can be classed as ‘gentler’, whereas the Stained-Glass, and Glass Painting & Glazing Workshops are more vigorous, requiring an average degree of physical stamina and standing throughout the day.

We try to make the workshops accessible to as many people as possible. However, some physical limitations may prevent this.  Every situation is different, so if you are unsure, please get in touch with us for more information before booking.

Is there any parking at each venue?

At The Harriet Centre, York Cemetery, there is some parking space available – just inside the main cemetery gates, off Cemetery Road. As you come in through the gates the modern Harriet Centre building is to the right of the gatehouse, and you should find a space at the bottom of the driveway close-by. At St. Mary’s Church, Beverley, there is limited street parking close to the church. We would suggest parking on the road near to the racecourse and walking in from there, or using the central car parks.

What is the address of the workshop venues?

The Choir Vestry, St. Mary’s Church, North Bar Within, Beverley, HU17 8DL

The Harriet Centre, York Cemetery, The Gatehouse, Cemetery Road, York, YO10 5AJ.

Are the workshops suitable for children?

Unfortunately, not. Though we plan to offer workshops for children at a later date. Please watch this space!

What is the maximum number for any workshop?

In general, we have a maximum of 8 participants. Sometimes we do offer smaller groups for the Glass Painting and Glazing Workshop, depending on the chosen venue capacity.

We are also developing bespoke workshops for group-bookings. Please contact us; we would love to develop a workshop plan with you!

Is there room to progress to another level once the beginner workshops have been completed?

Yes, and there are a number of ways to do this…

Firstly, there is the opportunity to join another 1 or 2-Day workshop alongside beginner students, whilst bringing your own design idea or specific project to work on and hone your skills. This allows you to work to your own timetable, and have access to tutorial advice and full use of materials and equipment throughout. Secondly, in time, we would like to offer intermediate workshops, once there is enough interest in doing so. Please let us know if you are interested to do this.

Are there any course notes/guides to take away?

Yes, we offer course notes to take away for your reference

Do you provide CPC accreditation certificates?

We are working towards providing this via the CPC Certification Service. Watch this space!
