1-Day Ornamental Clay-Modelling
Wolds Workshop is pleased to offer a 1- day practical course which aims to introduce you to the process of ornamental clay modelling, taught by professional carver, Kibby Schaefer.
Learning outcomes:
This class will guide students through the practical techniques of modelling a low-relief ornamental detail in clay, using decorative features provided as inspiration. The morning will involve drawing their chosen detail and translating it into a 3-dimensional clay model, which will be refined throughout the day.
Suitable for all ability levels.
What to bring:
Apron or old clothing
Sturdy pair of shoes
Camera for documenting your progress

York Cemetery Harriet Centre, The Gatehouse, Cemetery Road, York, YO10 5AJ. Limited parking is available.
Food and Drink:
There is a small kitchen available for use. Tea and coffee will be provided, but please bring your own lunch.

Kibby Schaefer
Kibby co-runs the building conservation workshop, Matthias Garn + Partner. She gained a Diploma in Architectural Woodcarving from the City + Guilds of London Art School, specialising in the limewood carving of Grinling Gibbons under Hannah Hartwell, after which she was invited to work for Dick Reid in York. She later worked for David Esterly, assisting with the creation of complex architectural limewood compositions. She joined Matthias Garn in 2008.
